The Air Jordon 11 Just Got Its First-Ever Collaboration — And It's Comme des Garçons
I'll be honest: I'm not the biggest sneakerhead. I don't know every colorway, I'm not first in line at every drop, and I couldn't tell you the difference between half these retro releases if you asked. But a genuinely great collaboration? That's my destination every time — and this one stopped me mid-scroll.

Some silhouettes are too sacred to touch. For thirty years, the Air Jordon11 has been one of them — a model the Jordan Brand has guarded so closely that not a single outside collaborator has ever been allowed to put their name on it. Not until now.
Comme des Garçons Homme Plus has officially broken that seal, and the way they've done it feels exactly right. No loud graphics, no gimmicks, no over-designed reinterpretation. Just two tonal colorways — all-black and all-white — rendered in premium leather with a debossed Jumpman quietly folded into the upper and "COMME des GARÇONS HOMME PLUS" lettering resting at the ankle collar. It's a restraint as a statement. The kind of design language that doesn't need to shout because everyone in the room already knows what they're looking at.
This is Rei Kawakubo's team doing what they do best: taking something iconic, stripping it down to its essence, and elevating it into an object that reads as luxury without abandoning what made it iconic in the first place. The AJ11's signature patent leather mudguard is still there. The shape is untouched. But the materials, the finish, and the restraint push it somewhere the sneaker has never lived before — high fashion, not just high-top.

The details:
Colorways: Black/Black-Black-White (style IV7639-001) and White/White-White-Black (style IV7639-100)
Release: Fall 2026, expected September
Retail: $250 per pair
Where: Dover Street Market, with a possible Nike SNKRS release alongside it — though wide GR distribution isn't part of the plan. Given the pedigree here — first collaboration on the standard AJ11, CDG's built-in scarcity model, DSM as the primary channel — this is going to move fast and hard. These aren't shoes that sit on shelves. And normally, that's exactly the kind of release I'd let pass me by — chasing drops isn't really my thing. But this one is different enough, rare enough, and well-designed enough that I'm making an exception. I'm setting up my DSM account in advance, turning on SNKRS notifications, and keeping an eye on official channels the second a hard drop date lands.
You don't have to live and breathe sneaker culture to recognize when a collaboration actually means something. This is one of those. I'm not trying to be the biggest sneakerhead in the room — I just don't want to miss this one.
